Dara Ó Briain and Angela Scanlon in as new Robot Wars presenters
Many fans of the returning BBC ‘Robot Wars’ TV show were holding out hope that Craig Charles would reprise his role as the energetic presenter of the show. Sadly it seems Charles has passed on the opportunity – with the BBC confirming that Dara Ó Brian and Angela Scanlon will be taking over presenting duties for the show.
Speaking about his appointment Briain stated;
“For too long, the schedules have cried out for a show in which dedicated amateurs toiling day and night, handcraft sophisticated automatons built on the delicate interplay of hand-wired servo motors with custom-built circuit boards and fingertip motion control, just to see them get smashed to pieces by a dustbin carrying a massive hammer. It’s war, and how I love it so.”
Dara Ó Briain is known for his presenting stint on another BBC programme ‘Mock of the Week’. Angela Scanlon has been involved in a number London BBC productions and so it will be exciting to see the presenter step up. Fans will also be pleased to hear that Jonathan Pearce will reprising his role as lead commentator for the show.
We’re very excited for this pairing – the two are very good presenters and it should provide a fun new dynamic for the show. Charles is a great presenter but the show needs to find a new identity if it’s to take off in the way the BBC seem to want it too.
