Ryan Reynolds wants an X-Force film to happen
It took over a decade for Ryan Reynolds to realise his dream of donning the Deadpool outfit for the big screen but this week it finally becomes a reality. Now the Hollywood star has revealed his next ambition is to get an X-Force film off the ground,
Speaking to FILMSTARTS about his latest role; Reynolds discussed the cinematic for Deadpool and how he hopes to expand it beyond the X-Men to incorporate the X-Force comics.
“In the future, I think, if we’re doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, we’re gonna really explore the X-Men a lot,” he said, adding, “And maybe X-Force. X-Force my priority. I really want to get that in.”
An X-Force film has long been rumoured to be on the table over at Fox. It’s believed that Rob Liefeld was involved in an earlier effort to script for the film which led to Jedd Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2 fame) penning an early draft script. Sadly in 2014 it’s reported that the film was shelved once 20th Century Fox announced X-Men: Apocalypse; the studio choosing to focus it’s efforts on the X-Men franchise instead.
X-Force is a more mature version of X-Men and centres around a team of superhero mutants led by Cable – Cyclop’s son from the future.
