Ronda Rousey was in a very dark place after her defeat to Holly Holm
Ronda Rousey had a very varied 2015. She became a household name for her brutal fighting style in the UFC ring and even managed to bag herself appearances at WWE’s Wrestlemania and in one of years biggest films Fast & Furious 7. But then came that crushing defeat at the hands of Holly Holm and suddenly the star found herself in a dark place.
Speaking to The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, she told the presenter how she almost committed suicide following her devastating loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193.
“I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself and that exact second I’m like ‘I’m nothing, what do I do any more and no one gives a s–t about me anymore without this. To be honest, I looked up, and I saw my man Travis was standing up there, and I looked up at him, and I was like, I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive.”
It must be said that the manner of the defeat was extraordinary and Rousey’s performance left a lot of people shocked. To hear the anguish she went through post-match though is incredibly sad. It’s good to see that the star appears to moving on from that headspace.
Rousey is rumoured to be in line for a match against the winner of the upcoming Holly Holm – Miesha Tate match at UFC 196.
