Dana White Confirms Miesha Tate’s First Title Defence Opponent – No Surprises Who It Is
UFC 196 was huge for fans of the sport, shaking up the divisions with results that few would have realistically predicted. One of those victors was Miesha Tate who overcame Holly Holm to win the UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship in a spectacular five-round showdown. Now Dana White has confirmed to ESPN who will be first in line to face Tate for her championship.
Talking to ESPN, Dana White explained that Ronda Rousey will be getting her rematch for the championship at a to-be-specified event.
“I think that Ronda now will fight Miesha Tate for the title. That’s what’s going to happen,” White said. “That’s what I said before this fight even happened. Whoever wins tonight will fight Ronda for the title.”
“I text Ronda, and she said, ‘What happened?’” White said. “I said, ‘Miesha just choked her unconscious.’ She said, ‘Looks like I gotta get back to work.’”
No surprises there then. The two have already competed twice with Rousey submitting Tate on both occasions. Hope she’s ready for Rousey this time.
No date has been given for the fight but reportedly, Rousey doesn’t want to fight before the end of summer – something we’re sure will go down delightfully with her opponent.
