I don’t know what London did to upset movie producers but damn, the poor old city seems to take a beating no matter which movie it turns up in these days. Or at least that’s the impression the new Independence Day trailer gives.

It’s been a good long time coming but fans of the original city destroyer Independence Day can finally rejoice as the Super Bowl trailer shows off director Roland Emmerich’s explosion-fest. Not starring Will Smith, the movie also comes with a synopsis, which reads;

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
